The University Bookstore is a rapidly growing business, and the only bookstore of its kind in Iceland. The store's main goal is to provide the students at the University of Iceland with textbooks, and other school supplies, at a reasonable price. Furthermore, the bookstore provides books for the academic community and libraries, as well as various other educational institutes and universities in Iceland.

The University Bookstore has more to offer than just academic material. The store provides complete access to all available books published in Iceland. We also stock a great variety of general books, mostly English and American, but also a selective amount of books in the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Swedish, Norwegian), and other languages such as German, French, and Spanish. The store also offers software, magazines, office supplies, and one of the largest selection of computer books in Scandinavia. Furthermore, the bookstore has a powerful ordering service and can order most titles quickly and effectively.

The University Bookstore is an independent division within the Icelandic Student Services (Félagsstofnun Stúdenta, short FS). FS is a financially independent private institution and it operates on five main fields: Student Housing, the University Bookstore, the Student Cafeterias, the FS Day-care Centers, and the Student Employment Agency. Parties to FS are all registered students at the University, the University itself, as well as the Icelandic Ministry of Education.
